Choose more than just a transportation company. With Schellinger art transport, you choose a partner who understands that your works of art are invaluable, both emotionally and financially.

Our approach combines reliability, speed and inventiveness with a great appreciation for cultural heritage from old masters to contemporary art. With our transportation service, we aim to provide the greenest solution. We drive electric as much as possible, except when not possible due to size, weight or distance, and make every effort to operate as lightweight as possible, from packing materials and transport crates to the best fitting means of transportation in terms of size. All this to save weight and keep our footprint as small as possible.

Reliability and expertise

We have years of experience in both the art and transportation industries. Our experts know how to handle your works of art with the utmost care so that each object arrives at its destination as it left.

Speed and flexibility

Time is precious, even in the art world. Therefore, we offer a fast and flexible service to ensure that your works of art can be transported within a few days. We have several types of vehicles at our disposal so we can always offer a suitable solution for your transportation. Our ambition to be the most sustainable carrier means that we carry out the majority of transports with electric vehicles. If this is not possible due to size and/or distance we use regular transportation.

Sustainability

We are aware of the impact transportation has on the environment. We strive to provide the most innovative and responsible transportation solutions in the art sector. By using environmentally friendly materials, multi-purpose and reusable transport cases, reducing our CO2 emissions by using electric cars whenever possible and optimizing our logistics processes, we want to show that art transportation can be both efficient and environmentally conscious.

Nick Schellinger

Founder & Owner

As a descendant of Cornelis Schellinger (16th century shipmaster and churchwarden of the Oude Kerk in Amsterdam), I have a deep-rooted interest in Dutch history and its associated cultural heritage. Through my years of experience at KLM and KLM CARGO, I have gained a lot of knowledge about international transport worldwide. I am also no stranger to road transport within Europe.

As a driver for a pharmaceutical wholesaler and later as an ambulance driver, I have covered a lot of miles. By being visible on the road, driving defensively and looking far ahead, you ensure stable and calm transport. An aspect that is highly valued at the aforementioned companies. All this I take into my work and vision of this company.

Sustainability, innovation and community involvement are important core values for both myself and Schellinger art transport….

Dr. Micha Leeflang

Co-founder & Art History Research

After studying (technical) art history and doing doctoral research on the 16th-century Antwerp painter Joos van Cleve at the University of Groningen, I worked for three years at the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam for the paintings catalog ‘artists born before 1500’. I then started as curator at Museum Catharijneconvent where I worked for 17 years and was responsible for the collection of (late) medieval painting, sculpture, textiles and manuscripts.

I am a broadly interested art historian who is very object-oriented. In addition to research, I am interested in the management and conservation side of objects. I am regularly involved in restoration projects as a member of supervisory committees, such as currently in the restoration of the 16th-century vault paintings in the Grote Kerk in Naarden, the painting depicting the ‘Mint Master Clemens van Eembrugge and his companions’ of Kasteel Huis Bergh and Wouter Pietersz Crabeth’s Assumption of Mary at Heaven at Museum Gouda.

Transporting works of art from one place to another is a fascinating process. Whether it is a work to be transported from one museum to another or from a private collector to a restoration studio or auction house or visa versa; it is always special to see a work in another location, and to meet the owners and recipients….
